on the occasion of the decision issued by the Council of Deans at Yarmouk University promoting her to the rank of Associate Professor, in recognition of her distinguished academic and scholarly contributions in teaching and research
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Yahya Melhem, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and under the supervision of the Head of the Accounting Department, Dr. Salah Al-Din Al-Sharman, the Training and Qualification Committee of the Accounting Department organized an awareness session in cooperation with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – United Kingdom. The session was delivered by Mr. Ahmad Manzoor, the ACCA Regional Representative for the Middle East.
The workshop was conducted in two sessions. The first session was dedicated to faculty members of the department and was chaired by Dr. Salah Al-Din Al-Sharman. It focused on discussing ways to enhance integration between academic programs and international professional certifications, as well as mechanisms for aligning curricula with labor market requirements.
The second session targeted students of the Faculty and was chaired by Dr. Safaa Al-Samadi. During this session, Mr. Ahmad Manzoor highlighted the key features of the ACCA qualification, the requirements for obtaining it, and its role in developing accountants’ career paths and enhancing their competitiveness at both the local and international levels.
Mr. Manzoor also offered a special discount for Accounting Department students interested in sitting for the ACCA examinations, including a 50% discount on registration fees and a 70% discount on examination fees per paper.
The event witnessed strong interaction from faculty members and students, who raised numerous questions regarding the benefits of the qualification and its future professional prospects.
At the conclusion of the session, Professor Dr. Yahya Melhem expressed his appreciation to Mr. Ahmad Manzoor for his participation, commending the Accounting Department for its outstanding efforts in organizing this high-quality activity, and reaffirming the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening academic and professional partnerships that serve both students and faculty members.
The Faculty of Business Council held its first meeting for the 2025/2026 academic year, chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Yahya Melhem, and attended by the Vice Dean Dr. Khaldoon Aldaoud, the Assistant Deans, heads of academic departments, and departmental representatives on the Council.
Professor Dr. Yahya Melhem opened the meeting by welcoming the Council members and congratulating them on the start of the new academic year, emphasizing the importance of working in a team spirit and strengthening cooperation among all components of the Faculty to achieve its academic and administrative goals.
During the meeting, several issues related to the progress of the educational process were discussed, along with plans to develop academic performance. The permanent committees of the Faculty were also formed, and their duties were defined in a manner that ensures enhanced efficiency and better organization of work.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Dean expressed his appreciation to the Council members for their efforts, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to advancing the Faculty’s standards and strengthening its academic reputation.
The Accounting Department at the Faculty of Business organized an advisory workshop for Master’s program students who were transferred from the comprehensive track to the thesis track. The workshop aimed to clarify the requirements of the upcoming stage, explain the mechanisms for preparing a research proposal, and discuss key academic guidelines related to scientific theses.
During the workshop, the Head of the Department, Dr. Salah Al-Din Al-Sharman, reviewed the most important academic instructions and procedures governing the thesis track, emphasizing the need to adhere to research standards and ensure the quality of academic outputs.
The workshop also featured a productive discussion between faculty members and students, during which students’ questions were addressed and relevant academic and procedural aspects related to thesis preparation were clarified.

During the meeting, the Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, Dr. Mohammad Abuweini, delivered a presentation on AACSB international accreditation, outlining the related procedures and requirements, and highlighting the importance of meeting accreditation standards in enhancing the quality of academic programs and strengthening the Faculty’s reputation at both the local and international levels.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Faculty’s representatives to the University Council were elected, and the Social Committee was formed to oversee activities aimed at strengthening professional and social ties among staff and faculty members.

The meeting was marked by a friendly atmosphere that reflected a spirit of collegiality and mutual appreciation, as attendees exchanged cordial conversations and recalled professional and academic milestones they had previously shared within the department.

In 1981 Yarmouk University established a unique college under the title of “Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences”, with the objective of meeting stakeholders needs and contributing to the national business, organizational and management arena.
